What: No Frills, Just Chills Fundraiser

Info: The fundraiser run, up to 10k fun/run, is for the Teens Run Modesto program. All proceeds benefit teens training for the Modesto Marathon. Registration is at 7:30 a.m. and running begins at 8:30 a.m. There will be an obstacle course, pumpkin drawings and more for families. COLUMBIA
What: Boo Boulevard-Halloween/Pirate Supper
When: Saturday and Sunday
Where: Columbia State Historic Park, 11255 Jackson St.
Info: The events are sponsored by the Friends of Columbia State Historic Park, Columbia Chamber of Commerce and Columbia State Historic Park. Activities are on Saturday from 3-6 p.m. when the park is transformed into 15 trick-or-treat stops. The Quartz Mountain Stage Line will have wagon rides through the abandoned Diggins Tent Town, $5 a person. On Sunday, the Columbia City Hotel Restaurant will host a Pirate Supper at 6 p.m. The supper will include “hearty” pirate entertainment. The supper is $100 per person and includes a four-course meal, costumes encouraged. To make reservations for the supper, call 209-532-5934. What: Concert: Rod Harris and Friends
When: Sunday, 7 p.m.
Where: Stage 3 Theater, 208 S. Green St.

75 YEARS AGO: It was announced that over 200 entries were made to the first annual Turlock Far West Turkey show, that was held at the county fairgrounds. C. B. Phifer (Empire), manager of the event, stated that turkey growers came from as far away as Portland, Ore. and Orange Cove. The two-day event also hosted a Halloween contest plus live concerts downtown both days.
