Woman lying across tracks killed by train between Modesto, Ceres
A yet unidentified woman described as white and in her mid-40s was killed when hit by a Union Pacific train along South Seventh Street north of East Hatch Road between Modesto and Ceres late Tuesday.
The train conductor reported the woman was lying across the tracks, said Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Frank Soria. The incident was reported at 11:38 p.m.
It is undetermined whether the woman was conscious or not, Soria said, but “it doesn’t appear to be suspicious.”
Information on how fast the train was traveling was unavailable.
