On-and-off chances of rain in forecast for Modesto this week
Chances of rain will come and go throughout this week, with the greatest likelihood Thursday.
A National Weather Service forecast issued Monday morning said Modesto could receive half an inch to an inch of rain between Thursday and Sunday. Sonora could get 1 to 2 inches.
For Tuesday, according to the weather service, there will be a 30 percent chance of rain before 11 a.m., and the remainder of the day should be partly sunny, with a high near 76.
Wednesday should be mostly sunny, with the peak daily high of the week: 77 degrees.
Wednesday night should turn partly cloudy, and Thursday should bring a 40 percent chance of rain and a high of about 70, the weather service predicts.
Rain is likely Thursday night, and a chance of rain carries into Friday, when it will be breezy with a high temperature near 72.
Friday night will be mostly cloudy with a slight chance of rain. Saturday should bring a partly sunny sky with a high near 72. The chance of rain returns Sunday, which will see a high near 70.
