Car goes through fence, into pool, in Riverbank crash
Riverbank Police Services deputies responding to a report of a hit-and-run crash early Sunday found that a car had gone through a fence and into a swimming pool at a home on the 2400 block of Olive Grove Court.
No one was in the car, which in photos appears to be a white four-door with a spoiler. “It could not be removed until the next day, as a specialty tow service had to be used to remove it from the pool,” Riverbank police Chief Erin Kiely said Tuesday morning.
After going through the fence, the car clipped a corner of the house, causing some damage. No one in the home was injured in the crash, which was called in by a neighbor at about 2 a.m. Sunday, Kiely said.
The chief said the car was not stolen. As to whether the driver was located and, if so, whether drugs or alcohol appeared to factor in the crash, he said driver-related questions could not be answered at this time.
