Power failure affects about 1,600 in Modesto’s Village I

About 1,600 Modesto Irrigation District customers in the Village I area found themselves in the dark when their power went out about 5:35 a.m. Tuesday.

By about 7:15, roughly half those customers had their power back, said MID spokeswoman Melissa Williams, and crews were working to fully restore service.

The cause of the failure had not been determined.
