MODESTO

What: Central Catholic Open House

When: Sunday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Where: Central Catholic High School, 200 S. Carpenter Road

Info: Central Catholic High School will be offering a campus tour, including the new Mark Gallo Health & Fitness Center. Families will also have the opportunity to meet teachers and students and learn about the school’s academic and athletic programs. Lunch will be available. What: Pancake breakfast and craft fair

When: Sunday, 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Where: Masonic Cente,r 800 Rose Ave.

Info: Soroptimist International of Modesto will be holding its 40th annual pancake breakfast and craft fair. Tickets are $6 for pancakes, sausages, eggs and beverage, and are available at the door or by calling 209-521-0609. The craft fair will include homemade baked items and decorated fall pumpkins for sale.

What: Emergency preparedness clinics

When: Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Where: All California Orchard Supply Stores

Info: OSH will be offering three hourlong sessions at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., on emergency preparedness. OSH experts will guide the community through various disaster and survival scenarios as well as demo helpful products to have on hand during an emergency. Employees will be answering questions and sharing helpful information.

What: Kitty tea party and silent auction

When: Saturday, 2 to 4 p.m.

Where: Harvest Presbyterian Church, 1813 Moffett Road

Info: The kitty tea party and silent auction benefits the Cat Network of Stanislaus County. Tickets are $10. Light snacks will be provided. For more information, call 209-324-0653.

PATTERSON

What: Let There Be Music Festival

When: Saturday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Where: Patterson Community Stadium, 200 N. Seventh St.

Info: The music festival supports music departments in Patterson schools and will be hosted at the Patterson Community Stadium. Big Earl and the Cryin’ Shame, Los Cadettes de Linares, Blame Sally and more will perform. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased on eventrbite.com or at the gate.

75 YEARS AGO: It was announced that Modesto High School and Lodi High School football teams would be playing each other. At this point in the season the Panthers were 0-2 in league, just having lost to Turlock High School, 13-6. But for the Flames, they were on a two- game winning streak, having beaten Grant Union High School of Sacramento, 19-0 and C.K. McClatchy, also of Sacramento, 32-7. Modesto was coached by Ernie Jorge and Lodi was coached by Bill Archer. The schools that made up the eight-team league were Lodi, Sacramento, Stockton, McClatchy, Modesto, Turlock, Woodland and Grant.
