25 YEARS AGO: It was announced that the Modesto Chamber of Commerce was looking for a contractor to take over the risks and rewards of Graffiti USA ’92, then scheduled for June 6 and 7. The chamber announced that the event in June met goals for community involvement and public relations. However, the chamber lost $2,000 in revenue. It was also discussed that three to four management groups had come forward with interest in taking over the event. Bids for operating the event had to be turned in to the chamber no later than Nov. 7 by 5 p.m. and the winner would have to report a chamber steering committee.
