What: American Cancer Society: “Denim & Dazzle”

Where: American Cancer Society Discovery Shop, 3440 McHenry Ave., Suite A-12

Info: Event includes artist-painted blue jeans, brand new shoes in boxes and lots of dazzling clothing. Shop hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m. All profits from the shop are used for cancer patient services and research to find a cure. Info: Tickets are $15 for designated seating, $12 for designated and bleacher seating, and $10 for the standing room only section. All proceeds benefit the MJC Pulling Pirates Truck Pull Club. What: Stanislaus County Bicycle Club event

Info: The Stanislaus County Bicycle Club is sponsoring the Golden Hills Gran Fondo beginning at the Odd Fellows Lodge in Knights Ferry. The Stanislaus County Bicycle Club consists of bicycle-riding enthusiast that promote bicycle advocacy and riding safety, and offer organized rides for its members. Participants will have the option of three routes through the Stanislaus County countryside. All riders will return to Knights Ferry, where they will enjoy a lunch prepared by the Odd Fellows, live music and vendor booths. YESTERYEARS

75 YEARS AGO: It was announced the 20-30 Club hosted a meeting and discussion on migrant workers and their issues. The meeting was held at the Hotel Hughson and the guest speaker was the Rev. Addison A. Moore, a field agent of the Council of Home Missionaries of North America. Moore told the group that migratory workers help California in many ways, one of which is supplying the necessary labor for harvesting in many districts.
