Carnival cruisers say this is the best time to enjoy your balcony
For many cruise vacationers, a balcony cabin is a cruise must-have - especially in scenic cruise destinations like Alaska. Although cruise ships offer plenty of public deck space to enjoy the views, many passengers find that having their own private outdoor retreat to soak up quiet moments at sea is worth the added cost.
If you've booked a balcony cabin for your next cruise and want to make the most of the experience, be intentional about how you use your balcony to enhance your overall vacation. It's easy to get caught up in the excitement of the bustling pool deck and non-stop onboard entertainment, but making sure to carve out time to enjoy the tranquility of your balcony at sea will ensure that you get the full value of the experience.
Whether you use your cabin balcony to set the tone for a relaxing day at sea or unwind after a busy day of exploration in port, time spent on a cruise ship balcony can significantly enhance your vacation if you're the kind of traveler who appreciates quiet moments with scenic views in your own personal space.
No matter where you're sailing, enjoying a balcony at particular times of day is especially relaxing. That's something that Carnival cruisers highlighted in a recent discussion on the popular Facebook page of Carnival Cruise Line Brand Ambassador John Heald.

Carnival cruisers love early mornings, and late nights, on a cruise ship balcony
For the majority of the more than 1,300 Carnival cruisers who participated in the discussion of favorite times to be on a balcony, mornings are the best time to enjoy the private oasis at sea, especially at sunrise.
Many cruisers who sail in a balcony cabin wake up early and maximize their balcony experience by enjoying the early morning stillness and sunrise views over the water. Early mornings also often give passengers a chance to enjoy scenic views as the ship arrives in a port for the day.
"Early morning, watching the sun rise and being able to watch as we sail into ports," Mandy Forbes commented.

For many cruisers, enjoying quiet mornings accompanied by coffee, and even breakfast, on a cruise balcony is a special cruise ritual.
"Early morning sunrises with a cup of coffee in my hand enjoying the quiet so I can hear the waves crashing," Crystal Welsh shared.
Similarly, some passengers enjoy staying up late to enjoy the serenity of nights at sea.
"Late at night! After 2 a.m., it's super quiet and you can listen to waves while watching the stars! Nothing is more peaceful," Alec Bell commented.
Some cruisers use their balcony to watch ‘pier runners'
Some cruise vacationers say another benefit of having a balcony is port day entertainment. After returning to the ship, some passengers head to their balconies to people watch as passengers make their way down the pier.
"Mornings, sea days, and watching people return to ship after a port day, especially those that had too much to drink while in port and let's not forget the ‘pier runners,'" Anita Williams commented.

Infamous on social media, "pier runners" are what cruisers call passengers who rush back to the ship at the last minute and risk being left behind.
All-aboard time on a port day may not be the most relaxing time of day to be on a balcony, but to many cruisers, it's undoubtedly the most entertaining.
