Disney Adventure cruise ship sailing again after cancellation
On May 7, thousands of families boarded the Disney Adventure cruise ship in Singapore ready for a magical vacation at sea on Disney Cruise Line's newest and largest ship. Unfortunately, that voyage never actually began due to a mechanical issue that prevented the ship from sailing.
After boarding the ship and spending one night on board, families were delivered the bad news that their Disney Adventure cruise was canceled and they needed to prepare to disembark. Passengers were given full refunds and 50% off a future Disney cruise as compensation for the cancellation. The cruise line also assisted passengers with travel expenses resulting from the unexpected change in plans.
Although rare for a new ship, occasionally cruise ships require unforeseen mechanical repairs that can lead to delayed departures, itinerary changes, or, as in the case of the Disney Adventure, cruise cancellations.
Luckily for passengers booked on the Disney Adventure's next sailing, the problem was able to be addressed in time for the following voyage to depart on schedule on May 11.
Doug Parker shared more details on the Disney Adventure's technical issue and return to service, and more cruise news, on the May 12 edition of Cruise News Today.

Disney Cruise Line canceled the ship's original May 7 sailing after guests had already boarded. They cited propulsion issues that prevented the ship from delivering the magical experience they expected.
From here on out, Disney Adventure sailings are expected to operate normally.
Gas leak false alarm causes major delays at Southampton cruise port
And over in the U.K., cruise passengers boarding Cunard's Queen Anne in Southampton faced hours of delays after a suspected gas leak forced evacuations near the cruise terminal.
Now, dock gates four and five were temporarily shut down Monday, leaving about a hundred passengers stranded at nearby hotels while emergency crews investigated the incident.
Officials later determined that the leak was a false alarm and reopened the impacted gates. Queen Anne departed Southampton Monday evening, several hours behind schedule.
