Passport services now offered by city of Modesto. Find out how to apply
The city of Modesto Clerk’s Office is now offering passport services to residents at its downtown office.
The office is able to process first-time passport applications, replacement for lost or stolen passports, and renewals for passports issued to individuals under age 16 or people with expired passports issued more than 15 years ago.
Regular passport renewals cannot be processed through the city. That can be done only through the U.S. State Department website or by mail.
Applications are by appointment only, Tuesdays through Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Appointment dates and times are released in three-week blocks and updated weekly. To schedule an appointment, fill out the form at tinyurl.com/mopassport to search for available slots.
To apply for a first-time passport, applicants must fill out the application form, provide proof of citizenship and identification, and submit passport photos. The city has created a checklist form so all materials are ready for the appointment.
This service now joins other local passport processing services offered at the Salida and Turlock Libraries and the U.S. Postal Service.
Fees start at $15 for passport cards and go up to $130 for a passport book. There is a $35 execution fee per applicant for all services. Extra fees apply for expedited service. Once applied, processing times are four to six weeks for a regular passport and two to three weeks for expedited service.
