Book of Dreams fundraiser tops $32,000
The good news is we are nearly halfway to our goal of raising $70,000 for 10 hardworking nonprofit groups through A Book of Dreams.
The bad news is we have less than two weeks to go until our drive concludes at the end of December.
We appreciate each donor who has given so far, and if you haven’t given, we ask that you consider doing to.
Your money can help such worthy causes as the Haven Women’s Center, which comes to the aid of women and children fleeing abusive situations, and the Modesto Gospel Mission, which provides shelter and programs to the homeless.
At Haven, organizers are looking for funding for a Shelter Tote Program for victims: twin-size blankets; pillows; twin-size sheets; towels and washcloths; shampoo, deodorant, razors, hairbrush, soap and lotion; and various TLC items. Each tote costs $50.
At the Modesto Gospel Mission, donations can help people who don’t otherwise have access to medical care, and can help provide the education for a GED.
All contributions go directly to the charities. Neither The Modesto Bee nor partner Stanislaus Community Foundation takes any administrative costs out of the donations.
