Kaiser is adding 3-story medical office building at north Modesto center. What to know
To meet the medical needs of a growing community, Kaiser Permanente has started work on a new office building at its north Modesto medical center.
Kaiser is building the three-story structure on the south side of Kaiser Modesto Medical Center, adding 105,000 square feet of medical offices for serving patients.
Regional officials with Kaiser gathered with local dignitaries under a tent Thursday to mark the start of construction.
“This is a small step in our efforts to support our community’s growth,” said Aphriekah Duhaney-West, senior vice president and area manager of Kaiser Permanente’s Central Valley region.
Kaiser said it has about 431,000 patients in the Central Valley. The project will employ more than 200 construction workers and should be completed in spring 2026.
The building will have examination rooms for primary and specialty care, as well as offices for 74 physicians.
The medical services will include adult and family medicine, pediatrics, a newborn care center and a high-risk infancy clinic, hematology, oncology, occupational therapy and a pharmacy.
Right now, the project is simply called “Building 2”, but Kaiser may come up with a proper name for the facility. Patients using the hospital will see construction activity in the south parking area in the coming year, but the project is not expected to disrupt hospital operations.
Kaiser assured the facility will include environmental features such as solar panels, energy-efficient lighting, drought-resistant landscaping and charging stations for electric vehicles in the parking area.
No information was available on how many employees will work in the building.
It’s the first major addition to the Kaiser Modesto Medical Center, which was completed in 2007 and opened for patients the following year, giving Modesto three full-service hospitals.
The Kaiser center on Dale Road combines acute care hospital floors, a birthing center, surgical suites and emergency room in the same building with medical offices, an imaging center, lab, pharmacy and other departments.
