Kaiser Permanente has new leadership for its Central Valley service area, including Stanislaus and San Joaquin counties.

Aphriekah DuHaney-West is senior vice president and manager of Kaiser’s health care facilities in the Northern San Joaquin Valley. She began in the position Monday and will oversee hospital operations and the Kaiser Foundation Health Plan for the region including Modesto, Stockton, Manteca, Lathrop and Tracy.

DuHaney-West follows in the footsteps of Corwin Harper, who retired from Kaiser Permanente in October.

“I am honored to join the amazing professionals that make Kaiser Permanente Central Valley such a special place for our employees, patients and members,” DuHaney-West said in a news release issued Tuesday. “I look forward to leading our team and continuing to build upon our mission of delivering high quality, affordable care to the community.”

DuHaney-West previously held administrative positions with Ochsner Health. She was chief executive officer and chief operations officer at Ochsner Academic Medical Center in Shreveport, La., where she led initiatives driving improvements in quality of care, safety, physician recruitment and community health, the news release said.

Under her leadership, the Louisiana hospital expanded intensive care capacity for patients infected with COVID-19 and implemented practices to enhance patient safety. The medical center also was credentialed as a Level II pediatric trauma center and an adult trauma center.

DuHaney-West has a nursing degree and also holds a master’s degree in nursing science and business administration.

She held executive positions with LifePoint Health in Arizona and Louisiana for more than 10 years before joining Ochsner Health.
