Gallo Winery has new NFL contest: It may or may not include Taylor Swift

A well-known football mom is now part of E.&J. Gallo Winery’s sponsorship of the NFL.

The Modesto-based company has signed Donna Kelce — mother of Kansas City tight end Travis and Philadelphia center Jason — to promote its Barefoot label.

Donna Kelce will join four contest winners in a stadium box at a Nov. 20 game in Kansas City. It will be a regular-season rematch of the Super Bowl between the Chiefs and Eagles in February.

The public has until 8:59 p.m. Pacific time on Wednesday, Nov. 8, to enter. Hopefuls must write on Facebook or Instagram about why they want to visit with Kelce in the Barefoot Bandwagon Box.

The winner and three guests will get game tickets, airfare and lodging before and after the Monday night clash. All four must be at least 21, as Barefoot winemaker Jen Wall will be pouring samples to pair with food in the box.

World’s top winery dates to 1933

Gallo has become the world’s biggest wine producer since its founding in 1933. Barefoot is its top-selling label, with numerous still, sparkling and fruit-infused wines.

The NFL sponsorship began with the 2022 season and has involved TV advertising, social media, store displays and more. The deal helps the league expand beyond a fan base better known for beer-drinking. It gives Gallo a chance to further build a wine brand with a fun-loving reputation.

“As a seasoned football mom, I have loved welcoming so many new fans to the game,” Donna Kelce said in a news release. “Being a fan of Barefoot Wine, especially their delicious pinot grigio, I couldn’t resist when they approached me to collaborate with them on their mission to make wine and football easier to enjoy.”

And what about Taylor Swift?

The release did not mention Travis’ apparent romance with singer-songwriter Taylor Swift, who has been spotted with the Kelce family at a few games.

The Modesto Bee did a Friday afternoon Google search to learn the latest. The tight end declined to comment to reporters gathered for Sunday’s game in Frankfurt, Germany, against Miami.

Swift, meanwhile, is taking her tour to South America, so a Nov. 20 sighting in the Barefoot Wine box won’t happen.

Mama Kelce has been a media darling since her sons faced off in Super Bowl LVII, won by the Chiefs.

“I am excited to partner with Donna Kelce and bring more fun to the Barefoot Bandwagon Box,” Wall said in the release.
