Love radio control planes? There’s an event for you in Oakdale. It continues on Sunday
Skies over an airfield in Oakdale were filled with small-scale planes on Saturday as Radio Control Flyers Unlimited held day one of its two-day aircraft flying event.
The 2019 Spring Warbird Round Up was held Saturday at Woodward Reservoir in Oakdale. The crafts return Sunday for a second day of flying.
Military scale aircraft — WWI through Modern Turbines were invited — flew as onlookers watched the Academy of Model Aeronautics-sanctioned event. The planes fly again today beginning at 8 a.m. and running until around 2 p.m.
Sunday’s Warbird Round Up is free for spectators at the airfield on Eastman Road at Woodward.
On May 11, the group will hold a float fly for water-based RC aircraft.
