Child hurt in Patterson hit-and-run accident

Authorities are investigating a hit-and-run accident that left a middle school student injured Tuesday afternoon in Patterson.

According to the Patterson Unified School District, the accident occurred about 3 p.m. “The student's father and sister were at the scene, and he has been transported by ambulance to an area hospital,” the district said in a post on its Facebook page. “The victim was conscious, and we hope that his injuries are not serious.”

A driver followed what was believed to be the vehicle involved; authorities were searching for the driver after he ran away. He was described only as a white or Latino man.
