Fire crews put out blaze on McHenry Avenue, across from Women's March
Traffic on McHenry Avenue in Modesto was already slowed a bit by the Women's March on Saturday morning, but it got worse when a fire broke out on a business across the street.
Fire crews from Modesto and Ceres quickly extinguished the fire, which was located at the back of a building that includes Smoking Jays tobacco shop, at 302 McHenry Ave., and Breaktime Billiards, at 304 McHenry.
Crews were called out to the address for a report of smoke coming from the building at about 11 a.m.
The sprinklers in the building went off and water was being drained.
Crews were cleaning up the scene at about 12:15 p.m.
Meanwhile, the Women's March went on across the street on the sidewalk as planned.
