Riverbank resident suffers smoke inhalation in early morning fire

A Riverbank resident suffered smoke inhalation during a house fire early Wednesday morning but the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District says the situation could have been worse had there not been a working smoke alarm.

The alarm woke the resident at the home in the 2500 block of Saxon Way at about 3:42 a.m.

Firefighters arrived quickly and extinguished a small fire in the living room of the home.

The resident was treated at the scene by paramedics.
