In brief: Pride on Tour returns to Gallo Center
The New Conservatory Theatre Center returns for its annual LGBT-themed production Saturday, June 4, at Gallo Center for the Arts.
The San Francisco-based company’s traveling series Pride on Tour, which has been coming to the Modesto venue since 2012, will present the off-Broadway hit “Buyer & Cellar.” In years past the series has produced shows on anti-gay bullying, same-sex marriage and more.
“Buyer & Cellar” follows an unemployed actor (played by J. Conrad Frank) who lands a job running shops built in the cellar of legendary singer Barbra Streisand’s basement in Malibu. The one-man comedy, written by Jonathan Tolins, chronicles his relationship with the superstar and the toll it takes on his life.
The show will run at 8 p.m. Saturday, June 4, in the Foster Theater at the Gallo Center. Tickets are $20. Call 209-338-2100 or visit www.galloarts.org.
Chris Young
The Ironstone Amphitheatre Summer Concert Series has added country star Chris Young to its lineup. The “Nashville Star” winner will perform Sunday, Aug. 14, at the outdoor amphitheater at Ironstone Vineyards in Murphys. His show will include special guests, who have not been announced yet.
The summer series includes shows by Darius Rucker, Goo Goo Dolls, Sublime, Train, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bad Company, ZZ Top and more. Tickets for the Chris Young show go on sale Thursday, June 9. For more information, visit ironstoneamphitheatre.net.
The Little Fuller Band
Twain Harte’s own The Little Fuller Band is having a CD release party.
The indie-folk group combines the influences of Americana, rock, country, bluegrass, punk and more in its music. Their new album is called “Deal With It.” the CD release show will also feature Risky Biscuits and other special guests.

Zydeco Dance Party
The Bluesbox Bayou Band continues its boogie ways with a Zydeco Dance Party on Saturday, May 28.
This year the Modesto band celebrates 20 years of playing zydeco music throughout the region. The evening will include dance lesson with “Zydeco Ted” Sherrod. Doors open at 7 p.m. and music starts at 8:30 p.m. at the Eagles Hall in Modesto. The venue will be open for food and drinks throughout. Cover is $10. For more information, call 209-526-3096.
Silvermoon Band
Warm up to summer with the Silvermoon Band as it plays in Knights Ferry this weekend.
The group will play a Summer Warm-Up Party at the newly remodeled River’s Edge Restaurant. The show will feature guest artists as well as Hawaiian leis for the first 50 female guests. Festivities will include a free root beer float bar. Music starts at 6:30 p.m. Cover is $5 single, $8 couple, free if eating dinner. Call 209-881-3466.
