Cinco de Mayo Parade

The popular annual Cinco de Mayo Parade returns to Crows Landing Road. The colorful annual event is sponsored by the South Modesto Businesses United and brings out hundreds of spectators and participants. Floats will feature local businesses, youth groups, live entertainment, horses and more. The nonprofit event aims to empower and improve south Modesto.

Cultural Extravaganza Fiesta

Maddux Youth Center is sponsoring a free community Cultural Extravaganza Fiesta this weekend. Festivities include cultural dances, art exhibits, face painting, bounce houses, guest speakers, music, refreshments and community resource booths. Inside the neighboring King-Kennedy Memorial Center will be a Mother’s Day brunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Ceres Street Faire

The 28th annual Ceres Street Faire celebrates the city. The two-day event from the Ceres Chamber of Commerce will include include live entertainment, a car and truck show, food vendors, crafts and collectible booths, special exhibits and more. The parade starts at 10 a.m. Saturday in Smyrna Park and travels to Fifth Street.

Mother Lode Round-Up

The 59th annual Mother Lode Round-Up brings western fun to Sonora. The event features a parade and rodeo sponsored by the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Posse. The parade starts at 10 a.m. Saturday in historic downtown Sonora on Washington Street. Then both Saturday and Sunday the rodeo begins at 2 p.m. at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds.

Shakespeare Under the Stars

Catch the final shows of this year’s free Shakespeare Under the Stars production in Turlock this weekend. “The Two Gentlemen of Verona” is being produced for the seventh annual outdoor Shakespeare presentation from the California State University, Stanislaus. The play will received a Western twist, with the action being moved to the American West.

The Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber show “Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” stops by Gallo Center for the Arts for a three-show engagement. The nationally touring production turns the biblical story of Joseph, his 11 brothers and the coat of many colors into a family-friendly musical.
