The comic, along with stand-ups Jeff Foxworthy, Ron White and Larry the Cable Guy, created a comedy phenomenon that spawned movies, albums and more. Engvall prides himself on being a clean comic whose shows are family-friendly.

Murphys Irish Day
The popular Gold Rush celebration of Murphys Irish Day returns to honor the town’s Celtic heritage. The Murphys Business Association-sponsored festivities will include more than 100 vendor booths lining the streets as well as art, music, dancers, street entertainers and more. The annual Murphys Irish Day parade begins, rain or shine, at 11 a.m. along Main Street.

Central West Ballet
Modesto’s Central West Ballet presents its popular Rat Pack revue show. The production includes dances to popular work by Frank Sinatra and his famous friends. The revue, which the company performed in 2010 and 2012, will feature new dances and new choreography. The company will perform in formal wear and hard shoes to showcase different dance styles.

Camellia Show
The Camellia Society of Modesto holds its yearly showcase this weekend. The 55th annual Camellia Show will show off award-winning blooms in the private Gallo gardens. The free community event will feature more than 1,000 blooming plants over a 1-mile stroll. Rare camellia plants of various sizes also will be for sale.

Civil War Days
Knights Ferry Civil War Days returns to fight again. The battles between the North and South will come alive through the American Civil War Association. The re-enactment will allow participants to experience life as soldiers, women and children during the Civil War. The annual event was briefly canceled, but is back on.

Oakdale Testicle Festival
The annual Oakdale Testicle Festival returns with its ultimate truth in advertising event. Hundreds of participants come out to chow down on deep-fried bull testicles. This year the Oakdale Rotary Club fundraiser marks its 35th anniversary. A hosted bar begins at 6 p.m. with dinner starting at 7 p.m.
