Fair announces Rachel Platten – of ‘Fight Song’ fame – to play opening night
Rachel Platten – whose “Fight Song” has more than 2 million downloads in the U.S. – will perform opening night of the Stanislaus County Fair this summer.
The fair announced the latest addition to its slate of concerts Thursday.
“Rachel Platten is an up-and-coming sensation with music that connects the audience through her inspirational messages,” said Adrenna Alkhas, spokeswoman for the Stanislaus County Fair. “She will bring a whole new performance dynamic that will captivate the audience.”
Platten will perform July 8 at 8:30 p.m. The concert is free with the price of fair admission.
Platten’s major-label debut album, “Wildfire,” was released Jan. 1. The singer is touring the world, performing on countless television shows and being played on radio stations coast to coast.
Her hit, “Fight Song,” topped iTunes and radio charts in 2015, selling more than 2 million downloads in the U.S. alone.
“I’m in love with the idea of connecting people,” Platten said in a news release. “Bringing people together is, to me, the most important thing we can do in this life. I feel like that’s my mission with my music. I think that’s why I’m getting this chance right now.”
The 2016 Stanislaus County Fair opens July 8 for a 10-day run.
