Almond Blossom Festival

Festival season comes into bloom in the Central Valley every year with the Ripon Almond Blossom Festival. The 54th annual fest celebrates the spring almond blossoms with food, a carnival, parade, art exhibits, fun run, diaper derby and more. The parade starts at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, in downtown Ripon.

Wynonna

Country superstar Wynonna returns to the region. The singer and her band, the Big Noise, were last in the area in the summer of 2014 at the Stanislaus County Fair. She is currently on her Songs & Stories Tour. Earlier this month she released her first studio album in seven years, aptly titled “Wynonna & the Big Noise.”

‘My Fair Lady’

Sierra Repertory Theatre opens its 37th season with the perennially popular musical “My Fair Lady.” The show also marks the foothills theater company’s 300th production. The story follows snooty speech professor Henry Higgins (Russell Garrett) as he tries to teach proper English to cockney flower girl Eliza Doolittle (Brittney Bertier).

Little River Band

With 40 years of history behind it, the Little River Band keeps the music flowing. The soft-rock band was one of the first groups from Australia to successfully conquer foreign markets. Its hits through the 1970s and ’80s included songs such as “Cool Change,” “Lady,” “The Other Guy,” “Take It Easy on Me,” “It’s a Long Way There” and more.

State Theatre Red Carpet Party

The State Theatre rolls out the red carpet for Oscars night. The downtown venue hosts its annual Red Carpet Party for Hollywood’s big event. The festivities include a live broadcast of the Academy Awards telecast and a buffet dinner catered by executive chef John Surla of Surla’s Restaurant. Evening also includes swag and raffle prizes.
