The Bishop’s Wife
The Modesto Film Society closes out 2015 with a screening of the 1947 romantic comedy “The Bishop’s Wife.” A charming angel (played by Cary Grant) helps a bishop (played by David Niven) who is in the process of building a new cathedral. But complications arise when the angel develops feelings for the bishop’s wife (played by Loretta Young).

Columbia Jazz Series
The Columbia College Jazz Series rings out the season with its Holiday Reunion Concert featuring the Vocal Jazz Quartet and Frog Combo. Performing will be Krista, Tyler, Tanner, Taylor, Clint and featuring vocals by Caroline, Andrea, Sheryl and Joel. The annual show brings back former students to play with the regular jazz combos for an end-of-the-year celebration.

Coloring Week
Bring the whole gang to enjoy All-Ages Coloring Week at the Modesto Library. Coloring sheets designed for adults and kids will be provided, as well as colored pencils and crayons. Drop in anytime during open hours throughout the week for free family fun. The weeklong event is sponsored by Friends of the Modesto Library.

Outdoor Ice Skating
Take a spin on one of the two seasonal central valley outdoor ice rinks: Modesto on Ice and Turlock’s Fields of Ice. Both rinks offer public skate sessions, lessons and more. The rinks can also be reserved for private parties or events. The covered Modesto rink debuted this year and the open Turlock rink from R.A.M. Farms has been going since 2013.

Holidays on the Farm
Come out for the final full week of Holiday on the Farm at Lathrop’s Dell’Osso Family Farm. The large outdoor activity center has snow tubing, ice skating, zip lining and more. Evening Lights on the Farms shows offer visitors a chance to ride through a 200-foot-long light tunnel. Kiddie rides and Dell’Osso Express Train also all available through Jan. 2.

Winter Wonderland Carnival
Come celebrate the wonders of the season at the sixth annual Winter Wonderland Carnival at Calaveras Big Trees State Park. Enjoy wagon rides, crafts and games, homemade cookies and music. The Calaveras Big Trees Association-sponsored event usually sells out each year, so call in advance for tickets.
