In brief: Guy Fieri bringing his ‘Flavortown’ to the region
Celebrity chef and TV personality Guy Fieri is bringing “Flavortown” to Dell’Osso Family Farm next summer.
The popular host of Food Network shows “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” and “Guy’s Grocery Games” will appear at Baconfest 2016 at the Lathrop venue June 18-19. The new festival celebrates – you guessed it – bacon and will include cooking contests, live music, food and drink vendors and more. Fieri will serve as celebrity emcee of the cooking contest both days.

Bill Maher and Bill Engvall
The Gallo Center for the Arts has added two big-name comics whose names both happen to be Bill to its lineup next year: Bill Maher and Bill Engvall.
Maher will appear March 6 and Engvall will perform two shows March 19 at the downtown Modesto venue. Maher hosts the long-running HBO series “Real Time with Bill Maher.” Engvall is part of the popular Blue Collar Comedy Tour.

Constellations at CSU Stanislaus
The California State University, Stanislaus, department of theater continues its the run of the romantic play “Constellations.”
The two-person production is a man-meets-woman story that defies easy classification, touching on everything from free will to quantum multiverse theory and honey. It stars Stanislaus State students Lexi Silva and Sean Trew and is directed by Jere O’Donnell.

‘Mary Poppins’ at Playhouse Merced
Playhouse Merced brings everyone’s favorite magical nanny to the stage starting this weekend with a production of “Mary Poppins.”
The musical production stars opera singer Jenni Samuelson in the title role; Colton Dennis as Bert; Marit Medefind as Mrs. Banks; Ronald Daily as Mr. Banks; Miori Kennedy as Jane; and Spencer Brown as Michael. It is directed by Rob Hypes with musical direction by Dennis Brown and choreography by Deborah Fauerbach.
