‘Tootsie’
The Modesto Film Society will screen the cross-dressing comedy classic “Tootsie.” Dustin Hoffman stars as an unemployed actor who decides to disguise himself as a woman to land a role on a soap opera. Sydney Pollack directs the film, which also stars Jessica Lange.

Jan Daley
The Modesto Community Concert Association brings in singer Jan Daley. She is famed for having toured with Bob Hope and performs a tribute show in his honor called “Where There’s Hope.” The show features stories, songs, photos and clips about her time with the entertainer and more.

Townsend Opera recital series
Townsend Opera is launching a new recital series to highlight local singers. The concerts are meant to encourage arts participation and appreciation regionally. ‘Elf the Musical’
The holiday favorite “Elf” comes to the stage. Based on the Will Ferrell movie, “Elf the Musical” is the Broadway version of the life of Buddy, an orphaned child who winds up at the North Pole. The musical follows his voyage to New York City to find his birth father.

‘Art of the Tattoo’
The Carnegie Arts Center presents a talk on the “Art of the Tattoo” for its Sunday Arts Lecture series. Turlock tattoo artist Eric DeOliveira will discuss the influence of historical styles (from Japanese design to ancient tribal arts and art nouveau) on contemporary tattooing. Coincides with the ongoing Alphonse Mucha exhibit.
