In Brief: Arts events across the region

Filmgoers who missed a documentary about rock climbers in Yosemite that was planned as a one-time-only screening at the State Theatre will get two more chances to see the movie.

The Reel Rock 9 film tour “Valley Uprising” will be shown today and Saturday at the downtown Modesto theater. The film features Modesto resident Royal Robbins. According to the State’s website, Robbins’ son Damon Robbins – who brought the film to the theater in October – again is hosting the screenings through his Camp 4 Wine Cafe. The movie chronicles rock climbing’s golden era in Yosemite National Park from the 1950s through today, including the “outlaw” climbers who were at its forefront. The film, which played to a sold-out house Oct. 23, will be shown at 7 p.m. today and at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the State, 1307 J St. Tickets are $12 today, $10 Saturday.
