Adam Carolla, a podcast and radio host, comedian and author, will bring his stand-up show to Modesto.
Carolla is scheduled for 8 p.m. May 16 at the State Theatre, a performance for ages 18 and older only.
“The Adam Carolla Show” podcast holds the Guinness Book of World Records for “most downloaded podcast,” according to the State Theatre’s website. “The podcast now receives more than 30 million downloads a month ...”
He became known for co-hosting an advice call-in radio show with Dr. Drew Pinsky that later became an MTV staple, “Loveline.”
He went on to co-host Comedy Central’s “The Man Show” with Jimmy Kimmel, among other projects.
Carolla, who’s outspoken when it comes to politics, said he “prefers to say he’s a libertarian,” according to March story in the Washington Post.
“On X, Carolla’s feed is a steady stream of recirculated posts blasting Democrats, protesters, Barack Obama, Bruce Springsteen, Zohran Mamdani, Chuck Schumer and his favorite target, California Gov. Gavin Newsom,” the Washington Post story said. “His liberal fans — and he does have them — simply ignore this side of Carolla because they’d rather enjoy his comedy.”
This won’t be Carolla’s first visit to the region. He performed at Turlock Community Theatre in 2023 and headlined a 2013 comedy event in Merced.
Comedian Andrea Abbate will open the Modesto show.
The State Theatre is at 1307 J St. Tickets are $45 to $65, available at thestate.org.
