Chelsea Handler and serial killers? What’s been added at Modesto’s Gallo Center

A season already filled with big shows has been stuffed even more at the Gallo Center for the Arts.
Among the most prominent names added to the 2025-26 lineup at the Modesto venue is comedian Chelsea Handler.
Also big on the list are classic rockers George Thorogood & The Destroyers and folk-rock’s America, as well as popular medium Tyler Henry and Latin group Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán.
There’s even a discussion that takes audiences into the minds of notorious serial killers.
Here’s a look, ordered by date of appearance, at the new shows:
Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán – Jan. 15: The group also known simply as Mariachi Vargas, will be joined for the show by guest Leonardo Aguilar, son of Pepe Agular. Called “an iconic institution within the mariachi music genre” on the Gallo Center’s website, the band is making its fifth appearance at the theater. The show will be at 7:30 p.m. with tickets at $65-$135.
Serial Killers with Dr. Scott Bonn – Jan. 18: Recommended for adults only, criminologist and serial killer expert Bonn will profile notorious murderers. “In this thrilling 90-minute show, Dr. Bonn reveals the insatiable, psychological hungers that drive the likes of Ted Bundy and Jeffrey Dahmer to kill repeatedly with impunity and no remorse,” according to the center’s website. 5 p.m.; $45-$65.
George Thorogood & The Destroyers – March 11: Classic rock star Thorogood and his band return to the Gallo Center after 12 years, with hits such as “Bad to the Bone,” “I Drink Alone” and “Who Do You Love.” The group has played over 8,000 live shows and sold more than 15 million albums, according to the center’s website. 7:30 p.m.; $65-$125.
Tyler Henry – March 15: Known as the Hollywood Medium, Henry is the star of two hit Netflix series, “Live From the Other Side” and “Life After Death with Tyler Henry,” as well as E! Entertainment’s “Hollywood Medium with Tyler Henry.” He brings his tour, “An Evening of Hope and Healing,” to Modesto. 5 p.m.; $75-$145.
Il Divo – March 29: The pop-opera group has been performing for 20 years and brings its “Il Divo By Candlelight” tour to the Gallo Center. The quartet – Urs Bühler (tenor) of Switzerland, Sébastien Izambard (tenor) of France, David Miller (tenor) of America and Steven LaBrie (baritone) of America — will be joined by guest group Simply Three. 5 p.m.; $55-$125.
Chelsea Handler – May 17: This will mark the Gallo Center debut for the comedian, television host and New York Times best-selling author as she brings her “The High and Mighty Tour” to town. Handler was host of E!’s talk show “Chelsea Lately,” had the documentary series “Chelsea Does” and led the talk show “Chelsea” on Netflix. Her most recent book, “I’ll Have What She’s Having,” was published in February. This show is recommended for adults only. 5 p.m.; $75-$145.
America – May 23: Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell, the backbone of the Grammy-winning folk-rock group that formed in 1970, will make its third appearance at the Gallo Center. Known for its harmonies, America’s hits include “A Horse with No Name,” “I Need You,” “Tin Man,” “Lonely People,” “Sister Golden Hair” and “Ventura Highway.” Tickets for this show will be on sale to the public Nov. 21. Show at 7:30 p.m.; $72-$158.
