Country singer Chase Rice is the next peformer coming to the Fruit Yard Amphitheater in Modesto. The Gallo Center will host its annual Family Fun Festival. These are just two of some of the entertainment options set from Sept. 27 to Oct. 3 in the region.

Country singer Chase Rice brings his “Going Down Singing Tour 2025” to Modesto’s Fruit Yard Amphitheater. Rice may be remembered for his 2010 reality competition show stint on “Survivor: Nicaragua,” in which he reached the finals. The singer’s hits include “Eyes on You,” “Gonna Wanna Tonight,” “Lonely if You Are,” “Ready Set Roll,” “Ride” and a song with Florida Georgia Line, “Drinkin’ Beer. Talkin’ God. Amen.” Joining Rice will be Drake White and Hannah McFarland.

The Gallo Center for the Arts brings “Joan Osborne: Featuring the Songs of Bob Dylan” to Modesto. In 2017, the Grammy-nominated artist released the album “Songs of Bob Dylan,” her interpretations of a selection of Dylan’s music. Osborne and her trio will perform songs including “Highway 61 Revisited,“ “Spanish Harlem Incident,“ “Buckets Of Rain“ and “Tonight I’ll Be Staying Here With You.“

Family Fun Festival

The Gallo Center for the Arts and the city of Modesto present the third annual Family Fun Festival on the Gallo Center Plaza and the Modesto Rotary Music Garden. There will be music, dancing, chalk art, lawn games, exotic reptiles, face painting, balloon animals and giveaways. Food trucks will offer food for purchase.

Lowrider Festival

A community event, the “History of Lowriding Holiday,” will be celebrated in downtown Modesto. It will feature music and more “to promote true unity, culture, and pride within our community,” according to the event’s Facebook post. After the celebration, there will be a party for ages 21 and older at the Doghouse Taproom in Ceres.

Comedy at the State

We Own The Laughs: Modesto returns to the State Theatre. Performing will be Slick Ramirez, Monique Flores, Martin Rizo. The headliner will be J Valentino, with Glory Magaña serving as host.

MAPS program

Modesto Area Partners in Science presents “Exploring the Universe” with Natasha Batalha. Batalha “leads the largest exoplanet guest observing campaign with the James Webb Space Telescope, targeting a mysterious class of planets sized between Earth and Neptune to unlock new insights into their atmospheres,” according to MAPS website.

“Love’s Labor’s Lost”

Prospect Theater Project presents William Shakespeare’s “Love’s Labor’s Lost,” directed by Laura Dickinson-Turner. “Four friends make a three-year vow of celibacy, in order to focus on their studies ... only for them to encounter four brilliant, beautiful women who threaten their lofty academic goals,” according to the theater’s website. The show kicks off the company’s 25th season.

Author Spotlight

The Stanislaus Library Foundation’s annual fundraising event, now called Author Spotlight, will feature an appearance by author and children’s advocate Kris Calvin at the State Theatre. Calvin will speak on the importance of creativity and advocacy. The event raises funds for library programs for children and adults. Calvin is author of mystery and crime novels that take place in the greater Sacramento area including “All That Fall” and “Under a Broken Sky.” Tickets include hors d’oeuvres and wine.
