Rock hall of fame band coming to Turlock. Its big hits, when, how to get tickets

Turlock Community Theatre will rock classic style thanks to a just-added show featuring hall of fame band Cheap Trick.

Known for a string of hits from the 1970s to the 1980s, the group will play 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, at the nearly 1,000-seat venue.

Tickets go on sale Friday, Aug. 22, at 10 a.m. and will range from $74 to $146, according to theater Managing Director Kit Casey.

The show has “a very good chance” of selling out, Casey said. “We’re certainly hopeful of it.”

The band features founding members Robin Zander (vocals, rhythm guitar), Rick Nielsen (lead guitar) and Tom Petersson (bass guitar). On drums is Daxx Nielsen – Rick Nielsen’s son – who replaced Bun E. Carlos in 2010.

Carlos was included when the band was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2016.

Cheap Trick has a stream of hits including “Dream Police,” “Surrender,” “I Want You To Want Me,” “California Man” and “The Flame.”

The group played a show at the Gallo Center for the Arts in October 2023, its first time at the Modesto venue.

Casey noted the Turlock theater has had several classic rock bands perform there over the years such as Foreigner, Night Ranger and others. Cheap Trick adds to that list.

“We’re just happy they’re still touring and we’re going to get them here,” he said.

The Turlock theater also will host comedian Quinn Dale’s tour. Dale will perform Saturday, Oct. 11, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $49.77-$81.75.

Dale performed at Modesto’s State Theatre in July.
