Popular hard rock frontman changes genres for Modesto region show. Who, where

Former hard rocker Aaron Lewis brings his country side for a concert at Turlock Community Theatre. Meanwhile, the Modesto Children’s Museum opens its doors to adults only for a night of 1990s nostalgia, including a roller-skating rink. These are just two of the entertainment highlights for June 21-27.

Aaron Lewis and the Stateliners bring the “American As It Gets Tour” to Turlock Community Theatre. Lewis first found music industry success as frontman for Staind, the 2000s-era hard rock band. Lewis has had a second successful musical outlet with solo country projects. His most recent album is 2024’s “The Hill.”

MoChiMu After Dark

The Modesto Children’s Museum’s adults-only evening of activities returns. The museum, also known as MoChiMu, this time goes back in time with MoChiMu After Dark: ‘90s Summer Camp. Open to those 18 and over, the nostalgic evening promises classic summer camp snacks, “Bug Juice” and 1990s activities such as crafting a friendship bracelet, weaving a bead lizard and playing Dungeons & Dragons. There will be a roller rink on the museum’s first floor and guests are encouraged to take their own roller skates to enjoy throwback hits and disco lights.

“Cars” screening

A Graffiti Summer event geared for kids is planned at the State Theatre. The animated film “Cars” will be shown following a craft time for children. There also will be a photo booth and race car outside the theater.

Talent show

The West Modesto Talent Show promises a night celebrating the talents of those in the community. There will be music, dance, spoken word and more at the event that features those 13 and older. Hosted at West Modesto Community Collaborative, the show supports its youth program.

Mother Lode Fair

The annual Mother Lode fair in Sonora promises four days of all-ages fun with plenty of activities, including a carnival. In the arena, there will be an ATV & Moto Rodeo on Friday and truck and tractor pulls on Saturday and Sunday. There will be live bands on stage all four days, food, livestock and more.

WHEN: 3-11 p.m. Thursday-Friday; 1-11 p.m. Saturday-Sunday, June 26-29
