Actor’s show, canceled by wildfires, rescheduled at Modesto’s Gallo Center. See when
Actor Steve Guttenberg’s appearance at Gallo Center for the Arts has been rescheduled after being postponed due to the Los Angeles wildfires.
The show, “Police Academy 40th Anniversary: An Evening with Steve Guttenberg,” is now set for 7:30 p.m. Aug. 9 at the Modesto venue.
Guttenberg was scheduled to appear Jan. 31 at the Gallo Center but canceled as the devastating wildfires swept through Los Angeles, including the area where he lives, Pacific Palisades.
According to an online AP story, his home was spared.
“Guttenberg thanked God that his block was safe, but he said about 20 homes were burned ‘pretty bad’ in his 80-home community...” according to the AP story.
The actor was seen in a video pleading for help during the Pacific Palisades fire, as previously reported in The Bee.
A KTLA 5 News TV interview posted to YouTube showed Guttenberg asking people near the fire to leave their keys in their cars when they’d parked them on Palisades Drive so he and others could move them to let firetrucks get through the street and to the blaze.
The show at the Gallo Center features Guttenberg, among the stars in the 1984 hit comedy “Police Academy,” taking part in a moderated discussion about his four-decade career, following a screening of the film. The actor has starred in hit movies including “Three Men and a Baby,” “Short Circuit,” “Cocoon” and “Diner.”
Tickets are $49-$69, available at www.galloarts.org.
