Dogstar, the alternative rock band featuring superstar actor Keanu Reeves on bass, is coming to Modesto.

The trio — guitarist and vocalist Bret Domrose, drummer Robert Mailhouse and Reeves — will perform at the Gallo Center on April 25 at 7:30 p.m.

Formed in 1991, Dogstar began as a group of friends making music in a Southern California garage, according to a Gallo Center post on Instagram. After disbanding in 2002, the band reunited at the end of the pandemic, officially making its return in May 2023 — more than 20 years after its last performance.

Dogstar’s comeback show at BottleRock Napa Valley earned praise from fans and critics alike, featuring the live debut of its lead single, “Everything Turns Around.”

The band’s newest album is titled “Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees.”

Reeves is best known for his long movie career, which has included the blockbusters “Speed,” “Point Break,” the “Matrix” and “John Wick” sagas and “Bram Stoker’s Dracula.”

Reeves fans also know that even before Dogstar, the actor fronted another, albeit fictional, rock band — the most triumphant Wyld Stallyns from the 1989 movie “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure.”

Dogstar tickets go on sale to the general public on Feb. 21 at 10 a.m. at the Gallo Center Ticket Office at 1000 I St., downtown Modesto or by calling 209-338-2100. Online sales at Galloarts.org begin at 11 a.m. Tickets cost between $62 to $97.

Early access is available for Gallo Center members.

Turlock theater also announces show

Aaron Lewis and his band the Stateliners will bring their American As It Gets Tour to Turlock Community Theatre in June.

Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. for the show June 22 at 7:30 p.m.

Lewis still also fronts Staind, the “the 2000s-era hard rockers who injected meditative muscle into an era better known for mindless aggression,” according to an announcement by the Turlock theater on Tuesday.

Vermont-born Lewis’ solo country projects have led to two No. 1 Billboard Country Album debuts: “Town Line” (2011) and “Sinner” (2016).

His 2022 solo country album, “Frayed at Both Ends,” also was a top seller. The Turlock theater’s release for his June show says, “No matter the sonic setting, Lewis writes and sings to get his truth out, and his latest album ‘The Hill’ (2024), is no different.”

Ticket prices: will run $64-$136. There also will be a limited Aaron Lewis VIP Merch and Express Lane Package for $260-$291.
