Musicians from several top rock bands will gather at the State Theatre to pay tribute to legendary guitarist Jeff Beck. It’s just one of the entertainment options in the Modesto region set for Jan. 11-17.

Veteran artists from several top rock bands will honor guitarist Jeff Beck at the State Theatre. The “musicians are going to pull out all the stops, playing and pushing the limits of their ability and what is possible on their instrument, in tribute to the artist who so deeply inspired their playing,” the theater’s website says. Current and former members of Jefferson Starship, Steve Vai Band, Joe Satriani Band, Y&T, Tower of Power and more will be performing.

John McCutcheon
Folk legend John McCutcheon will perform his annual fundraising concert for the Modesto Peace/Life Center. This will mark his 23rd appearance. The Grammy-nominated musician plays a number of instruments including the hammered dulcimer, guitar, banjo, keys and harmonica.

Pop-up exhibit
The Carnegie Arts Center has set aside the month of January to host a pop-up exhibition. Four Central Valley printmakers will exhibit in a Project Space show, “Valley Voices.” Works by Christopher Garcia, Magdalena Gonzales Lomeli, Ruben Sanchez and Marisa Segovia will be featured. Works include different printmaking media and techniques. The artists will be available to talk about their work during a free public reception from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10.
