Holiday musical production coming to Modesto’s Gallo Center a popular tradition. See when

The holiday tradition continues as Central West Ballet performs “The Nutcracker” at the Gallo Center. It’s just one of several Christmas entertainment options and celebrations set for Dec. 7-13 in the Modesto region, including the city’s Celebration of Lights Parade.

“The Nutcracker”

Central West Ballet ushers in the season with its annual production of “The Nutcracker.” Follow Clara’s adventure to the Land of the Sugar Plum Fairy. There will be a boutique in the lobby and Sugar Plum Fairy Parties on stage after select matinees where children can meet the characters.

Modesto holiday parade

The Celebration of Lights Parade returns to Modesto. The theme this year is “Downtown Disco.” The route runs through downtown beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the corner of 14th and I streets and will travel west on I Street to 10th Street, north on 10th Street to J Street and east on J street to 17th Street.

Rockin’ Holidays

Stroll the garland-lined street, enjoy the Rockin’ North Pole and sit in Santa’s sleigh during the kickoff of this year’s Rockin’ Holidays in Modesto. Santa and his elves also will be there. A tree lighting will be held at 7 p.m., after the Modesto holiday parade, with a disco dance party. Rockin’ Holidays continues with lights, falling snow, music and Santa on Thursdays through Saturdays, 6-9 p.m. from Dec. 12-21.

Christmas Tree Lane

This year’s Christmas Tree Lane, the largest nightly neighborhood display in the region, opens with festivities in Ceres. There will be arts and crafts, live music, food vendors, pictures with Santa and more before a parade through the festive neighborhood begins.

Jane Monheit brings her Christmas show to the Gallo Center in Modesto. According to the center’s website, Monheit “is a self-described Christmas fanatic.” She’s released two seasonal recordings, “The Season” and “The Merriest.”

Jose Feliciano

Jose Feliciano takes the stage at the State Theatre, performing hits from his six-decade career. He’ll also perform his holiday tradition, “Feliz Navidad.” The singer and guitarist has more than 45 gold and platinum records, 19 Grammy nominations, nine Grammy Awards, and the LARAS Award for Lifetime Achievement, according to the theater’s website.

Holiday table viewing

The Modesto Garden Club will hold its Elegant Holiday Table Viewing at Del Rio Country Club. The public is welcome to view 30 tables, uniquely staged with finery for the season by members of the club.

St. Jude Kids Christmas Show

The “Kat Country Cares for St. Jude Kids Christmas Show” features a guitar pull with Matt Stell, George Birge, Jackson Dean and Annie Bosko. The show at the Turlock Community Theatre will raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
