Modesto youth theater company to perform Broadway classic. What to know, how to get tickets

The region’s youth theater company, YES, brings its summer production of “Oklahoma!” to the Gallo Center for the Arts. The Stanislaus County Fair ends its run while the State Theatre offers an ABBA tribute show. Here’s a look at some of the entertainment options in the greater Modesto region July 13-19.

YES Company

YES Company presents the classic Rodgers and Hammerstein musical “Oklahoma!” at the Gallo Center as this year’s summer production. Youth Entertainment Stage Company features young performers from across the Modesto region.

“In a Western territory just after the turn of the 20th century, a high-spirited rivalry between local farmers and cowboys provides a colorful background for Curly, a charming cowboy, and Laurey, a feisty farm girl, to play out their love story,” according to the Gallo Center website.

Fair finale

This year’s Stanislaus County Fair prepares to end its 10-day run. High-profile entertainment at the free stage playing this weekend features Great White, July 12; All Time Low, July 13; and La Septima Banda, July 14. All concerts start at 8:30 p.m.

ABBA tribute

ABBAFAB: The Premier ABBA Experience brings its tribute show to the State Theatre in Modesto. ABBAFAB features a multimedia production with music from the 1970s and ’80s including ABBA hits “Waterloo,” “Fernando,” “Honey Honey,” “Dancing Queen” and more.

Art and wine fest

The Twain Harte Art and Wine Festival will be held over two days. It features more than 50 vendors selling vintage jewelry, photography, metal sculpture, succulents, leather goods and more. Specialty food options include olive oil, jerky and nuts. Beer and beverages will be available for sale, along with an ice cream truck and lemonade. There will be live music both days.
