AC/DC tribute band hits highway to Newman venue
Newman’s West Side Theatre continues its 75th year of providing entertainment with an AC/DC tribute this weekend.
On Saturday, July 25, AC/DC tribute band Fusebox brings “a true-to-style show” of the classic rock band’s hits, according to a news release. The group provides an authentic appearance of AC/DC members and a high-energy stage presentation that mimics a late-1980s concert.
Doors open at 7 p.m., show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $17 general, $20 reserved, with students admitted for half price at West Side Theatre 1331 Main St., Newman. Call 209-862-4490 or see www.westsidetheatre.org.
D Henry Fenton at Greens
Indie-pop/Americana songwriter D Henry Fenton performs Friday, July 24, in the next Live in the Cellar concert at Greens Restaurant.
A native of Australia, Fenton has opened for artists including John Mayer, Colbie Caillat and Keith Urban. His debut solo album was called a “pop-rock winner” by Rolling Stone, according to a news release.

Calaveras Sings program
Calaveras Sings Theatre Arts Repertory for Kids presents “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” July 31 through Aug. 2 in Angels Camp.
A group of 55 students, ages 5-18, from across Calaveras County will bring the musical to life. The show is based on Ian Fleming’s novel and the classic 1968 film about the Potts family, their flying car and the adventures and characters they encounter.
Performances are 7 p.m. July 31; 2 and 7 p.m. Aug. 1; and 2 p.m. Aug. 2. Tickets are $12 for adults, $7 for students under age 18. The Aug. 1 matinee will offer senior special tickets for $5. Tickets can be preordered by emailing info@cstarskids.com or by calling 209-753-8631.
Carnegie seeks volunteers
The Carnegie Arts Center in Turlock seeks volunteers for a variety of roles.
Docents are needed to give tours and lead school activities for the center’s fall field trips schedule. Other opportunities include working in customer service, special events, clerical and exhibitions.
Training for docents includes a six-week class in art appreciation that begins on Aug. 12, as well as tour guide training and behind-the-scenes information sessions. Other volunteers will receive training specific to their duties, as well.
Volunteers must be age 15 or older and should be willing to commit to at least four hours per month. An informational meeting with sign-up forms available will be held Saturday, July 25, at 10 a.m. at the Carnegie Arts Center, 250 N. Broadway, Turlock.
