YES Company’s ‘Mary Poppins’
The YES Company concludes the run of its 24th annual summer production, “Mary Poppins,” this weekend at the Gallo Center for the Arts. The musical about a magical nanny features a cast of nearly 90 students from across Stanislaus County. The program, through the Stanislaus County Office of Education, introduces area students to all aspects of the performing arts. This year students from 45 area schools are participating in the musical production.

Boston and REO Speedwagon
Get “More Than a Feeling” as the 1970s classic rock bands Boston and REO Speedwagon team up for a double-bill at Ironstone Amphitheatre. Arena rock act Boston continues to tour heavily, led by founding member Tom Scholz. REO Speedwagon, known for No. 1 hits like “Keep on Loving You” and “Can’t Fight This Feeling,” features founding member Neal Doughty and longtime frontman Kevin Cronin.

Bear Valley Music Festival
Bear Valley Music Festival returns for two weeks of concerts. The 47th annual event features cellist Emil Miland, the Del Sol String Quartet, pianists Olga Kern and Sara Davis Buechner and more, presenting a variety of music styles. Also on the bill are a tribute to Frank Sinatra’s 100th birthday, a tribute to Elton John, a “Night in Havana” gala with wine, fine dining and Latin jazz, a tribute to the Kingston Trio and American folk music by the T Sisters as featured “A Prairie Home Companion.”

Blues and Bones Festival
The annual music festival and barbecue competition returns. The event features live music by popular regional performers Mike Hammar and the Nails, Val Starr and the Blues Rocket, Daniel Castro, Harlis Sweetwater, Jeramy Norris & the Dangerous Mood, Big Earl and the Cryin’ Shame and the Kyle Rowland Blues Band. Concertgoers should take low-backed chairs and blankets, but no outside food or drinks will be allowed.
