Canceled since 2020 because of the pandemic, recent storms have postponed this year’s planned Modesto RecFest.

The event had been set to return after three years this Saturday, March 18.

“Due to the unprecedented rain and river flows, we are POSTPONING the Modesto RecFest scheduled this weekend to a later date in the year when weather conditions are favorable,” according to a post on the event’s Facebook page.

According to Darin Jesberg, co-coordinator for RecFest, the Gateway Park Trails and space planned for the event are “fairly flooded and unusable.”

The park is part of the Tuolumne River Regional Park System, which remains closed.

The event was to include guided and self-guided activities such as a youth fishing clinic, bicycle rides, hiking, bird watching, kite flying and more.
