Comedy and the classical are on the entertainment slate in Modesto from Jan. 14-20. Comedian Carrot Top stops by the Gallo Center, as does a humor-sparked dance troupe, while Prospect Theater Project brings funny to its stage. Also at Gallo Center is famed violinist Itzhak Perlman.
Carrot Top
Comedian Scott “Carrot Top” Thompson brings his humor to the Gallo Center for the Arts in Modesto. He’s held a headlining residency at the Luxor Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas since 2005, offering his takes on pop culture, music and headlines of the day.

Itzhak Perlman
Virtuoso violinist Itzhak Perlman returns to the Gallo Center. Perlman has performed with every major orchestra, at concert halls around the globe and received numerous awards and honors throughout his career. He will be accompanied at his Modesto performance by pianist Rohan De Silva.

Les Ballets Trockadero
Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo brings its troupe of male dancers to the Gallo Center to perform a combination of pointe work and comedic parodying of classical ballet favorites like “Swan Lake.” Founded in New York City in 1974, the company is affectionately known as the Trocks.

Comedic play
Prospect Theater Project presents the Tom Stoppard comedy “Rough Crossing.” In the play, the co-authors, composer and most of the cast of a comedy destined for Broadway are simultaneously trying to finish and rehearse the play while crossing the Atlantic on an ocean liner.
