Famed folk singer returns for annual Modesto concert; where, when to catch his show

Six-time Grammy-nominated folk musician John McCutcheon performs his 20th benefit concert for the Modesto Peace/Life Center. The musician plays the guitar, banjo, hammer dulcimer, piano, autoharp and fiddle.

Poe’s Pub
“Poe’s Pub — A Frightfully Fun, Friday the Thirteenth Fundraiser” comes to the State Theatre in Modesto. It’s a kickoff to an Edgar Allan Poe-themed event and con from Opera Modesto and Modesto Poecon. The party begins with an appetizer and dessert buffet. Tickets include choice of a Black Raven cocktail (must be over 21) or Annabel Lee mocktail.
The evening includes a trivia game and Poe-themed songs by the Modesto Junior College Concert Choir. There will be a screening of Roger Corman’s 1963 movie “The Raven” starring Vincent Price, Peter Lorre and Jack Nicholson. Proceeds benefit Opera Modesto’s Youth Literacy and Arts Engagement programs.

DRUMLine Live
DRUMLine Live arrives at the Gallo Center. The international tour is based on the Historically Black College and University marching band tradition with rhythms, beats and energy. Incorporating original compositions and interpretations of top 40 hits, performances range from choreographed routines to drum riffs and cadences.
