With the countdown to Christmas almost over, it’s time to start thinking about the countdown to 2023.
A handful of Modesto-area venues are ready to help you do just that with music, revelry and bubbly — as in sparkling wine, sparkling cider and ginger ale, depending on your age and tastes.

Black Oak Casino New Year’s Eve Party: Dance party band Gotcha Covered headlines the music in the Willow Creek Lounge at Black Oak Casino, playing hits from the 1970s through today. Crocodile’s New Year’s Eve Party: A variety of tri-tip, salmon and chicken entrees are available for dinner, which is served 6-8 p.m. Dinner tickets are $50, while presale general admission (8 p.m.) is $25. Low Key Saloon New Year’s Eve Celebration: A band will provide music for a night of dancing. There will be a champagne toast at midnight. No cover charge. 3848 McHenry Ave., Suite 370, Modesto. 209-360-2771.
The Old School New Year’s Eve at Crawfish Noodle & Grill: Tickets for dinner, comedy show and dancing are $80. Dinner at 7 p.m., show 8 to 9. Doors open at 9 for dancing, and admission is $50. Modesto On Ice: The seasonal skating rink in downtown offers a late-night skate with a balloon drop and cider toast at midnight. There also will be games and prizes. 10 p.m.-12:15 a.m. Modesto On Ice, 11th and K streets. $25 adults, $20 children. To create a more pleasant experience, the number of skaters is reduced this year. Ring Ring Ring at Dave & Buster’s: Celebrate the new year EARLY with this 4 p.m. event.
