Modesto native to return for show. How to see her perform Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’ online

The return of a Modesto-born singer as part of a popular music ensemble is among the top entertainment events planned in the Modesto region for Nov. 12-18. Among the other options are more music and theater, including a production of a holiday favorite by Sierra Repertory Theatre.

Postmodern Jukebox

Modesto-native Effie Passero comes home as part of the Postmodern Jukebox ensemble, performing at the Gallo Center for the Arts. Passero, who appeared on “American Idol” in 2017 but did not make the final cut, will perform with the pop-jazz ensemble at the downtown Modesto venue. Limited seats were available at press time, but anyone can go to galloarts.org to watch Passero perform Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” with the group.

Altan

The sound of the group Altan comes from the musical tradition of its native County Donegal in Ireland. The group, coming to the Gallo Center, looks to spread the unique repertoire of the region’s music.

L’amour Concert

Opera Modesto presents soprano Maria Briggs and harpist Ellie Choate at the Mistlin Gallery in Modesto for its L’amour Concert. They will perform works by Faure, Debussy and Handel, along with some Broadway surprises.
