Get your fill of food samplings at the Edible Extravaganza. There are festivals and comedy at the State Theatre also planned among the entertainment events in the Modesto and Mother Lodes regions from Sept. 24-30.
Edible Extravaganza
The Center for Human Services brings back its Edible Extravaganza. The fundraising event in Modesto will feature 30 of the region’s restaurants, breweries, vintners, bakeries and local growers. Live bands also will perform.

Jurassic Festival
The Great Valley Museum will unveil its new dinosaur in the Great Valley Nature Lab during the Jurassic Festival. There will be dig pits for fossil replicas and other activities. At 4 p.m., dinosaur expert Tara Lepore will offer an all-ages talk in Sierra Hall 132 on the West Modesto Junior College campus on why people are fascinated by dinosaurs. Her 7:30 p.m. talk will be geared to ages from junior high and up.

Comedy at the State
The touring comedy show We Own the Laughs pulls into the State Theatre in Modesto. The humor will be provided by Kabir Singh, Ric James, Bee Gutierrez, Austin Bovée and Tyson Paul. The show will be hosted by D’Maurier Johnson.

Blues and barbecue fest
The Blues and Bones Festival combines music with a barbecue competition in Angels Camp. The event features performances by Eric Gales, Tia Caroll, The Blues Cartel Featuring Jeramy Norris and the Kyle Rowland Blues Band.

Authors fair
The Stanislaus County Library presents its Local Authors Fair outside on the Modesto Library portico. The event gathers regional authors and gives them the opportunity to promote and sell their works, as well sign copies of their publications.
