Country singer Jake Owen brings his hits to the Fruit Yard Amphitheatre in Modesto. Also planned is the annual Modstock music festival at Graceada Park. Those are just two of the entertainment options in the Modesto region planned from Aug. 6-12.

Country singer Jake Owen is set to play at the Fruit Yard Amphitheatre in Modesto. His hits include “Yee Haw,” “Don’t Think I Can’t Love You” and “Eight Second Ride.” Also appearing will be guest artist Chris Janson. Limited seats were available at press time.

Modstock
The Valley Music Institute’s annual Modstock festival returns to Modesto. There will be three stages with 75 bands and several vendors on site during the day-into-night event. Among them are 52 student bands at Mancini Bowl, as well as 12 professional bands on the gazebo stage.

Caleb Henry
Singer-songwriter Caleb Henry and his band The Customs are set for a show at the State Theatre in Modesto. The group plays country rock, blues and Americana music. Henry’s songs are based on his life experiences.

“The Lion King”
The State Theatre in Modesto continues its Donuts, Coffee and Cartoons series with a screening of the animated family classic “The Lion King.” The downtown theater’s family cartoon series is held monthly on Saturday mornings.

Art showcase
The Carnegie Art Showcase continues at the Carnegie Arts Center in Turlock. Jurors selected 88 works for the exhibit, which this year includes paintings, watercolors, drawings, stained glass, ceramics, wood, photographs, fiber arts, collage, mixed media and digital works.
