You can tour artist studios or Modesto area homes and gardens at a pair of annual upcoming events. The Temptations arrive in Turlock and Christian music will play at the Gallo Center. It’s just part of the entertainment and events planned from April 23-29.

Open studio tour

The Stanislaus Artist Open Studio Tour returns with 41 artists participating in Modesto, Turlock and Oakdale. Meet local artists, tour their studios and watch demonstrations. There will be art to view and for sale. Maps for the self-guided tours are available at the Mistlin Gallery, 1015 J St., Modesto, and the Carnegie Arts Center, 250 N. Broadway, Turlock.

Spring garden tour

The Modesto Garden Club’s Spring Tour returns with five homes and gardens open for viewing in Modesto. Also open will be the the club’s demonstration garden at 622 14th St. Proceeds from the annual tour benefit the club’s community projects.

The Temptations

For more than 40 years, The Temptations have scored hits and performed at sold-out shows throughout the world. Part of the original Motown sound, the group started in the early 1960s in Detroit. The song “The Way You Do the Things You Do” turned the members into stars.

The Edwards Twins

Anthony and Eddie Edwards use makeup to look and sound like superstars of today and yesterday in this show coming to the State Theatre. Among them are Sonny and Cher, Billy Joel, Elton John, Lionel Richie, Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Lady Gaga, Celine Dion, Bette Midler, Barbra Streisand and others.

Christian music

The group I Am They brings its “Thankful for the Scars Tour” to the Gallo Center. The band’s five-piece, pop-acoustic-worship sound is anchored by three-part vocal harmonies. The group’s most recent album is “Trial & Triumph.”

Spring Wine Weekend

Explore Calaveras wine country and sample wine at 27 tasting rooms. There will be live music and other events during the celebration. Tickets include a commemorative wineglass and a weekend guide with maps.
