Feel the blues or get some laughs. There are plenty of options in the Modesto region

The blues are coming to Turlock, and a celebration of Portuguese culture will be held in Modesto. There’s also more music, comedy and another festival set for the region from April 9-15. Here’s a look at some of the entertainment planned.

Keb’ Mo’

Blues artist Keb’ Mo’ brings his music to Turlock Community Theatre. The guitarist and singer has 12 Grammy nominations, with five wins, including his 2019 release, “Oklahoma,” which garnered Best Americana Album.

Portuguese Festival

The San Joaquin Valley Portuguese Festival is a fundraiser for the Carlos Vieira Foundation’s Race for Autism. There will be traditional Portuguese dancing, live entertainment, carnival rides, craft vendors, food and more. A Portuguese bloodless bullfight will be held Sunday.

Modesto Pollinator Festival

Learn how to identify native and non-native bees and how to build a pollinator garden at the Modesto Pollinator Festival. There will be activities for children, exhibits, food trucks, face painting, lemonade, crafts and more.

Prospect Theater

Prospect Theater Project presents “Shadow of a Doubt.” The Radio Cavalcade production is based on the 1943 psychological thriller directed by Alfred Hitchcock. Charlie Newton is excited when her favorite uncle arrives for a surprise visit, but he harbors a dark secret.

David Foster

David Foster returns to the Gallo Center for his “Intimate Evening” tour. He has created hit songs and award-winning albums for artists including Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Stevie Wonder, Earth, Wind & Fire, Chaka Khan, Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton, Gloria Estefan and more. He will be accompanied by vocalists and musicians. Only limited balcony seating was available at press time.

Fleetwood Mac tribute

Tribute band Fleetwood Mask brings its show to the State Theatre, with a focus on the 1975-forward five-piece lineup. Fleetwood Mask has played nationally for a decade and each group member provides his or her character’s select equipment and persona.

Comedy at the State

The “Here We Glow: Farewell Comedy Show” features Modesto native Glory Magaña, who has performed across the U.S and Mexico. Also appearing at the State Theatre event will be comedian Gadiel Del Orbe and host Aurora Singh.
