Comedian ready to go “Off the Rails” in Turlock; more entertainment in the region

Famous for his angry rants, comedian Lewis Black brings his latest tour to Turlock Community Theatre. His show is just one of the entertainment options in the Modesto region for the week of Feb. 19-25. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, cancellations or postponements may occur.

Known as the “King of Rant,” Lewis Black uses his trademark comic yelling and finger pointing to rail on the absurdities of life. Black takes his “Off the Rails” tour to Turlock Community Theatre, a show that — due to explicit language — is recommended only for adults.

Bluesbox Bayou Band

Five-piece roots group Bluesbox Bayou Band will perform its dance party style at the Gallo Center. Members, who are from Modesto and Sonora, also play New Orleans, Cajun, Creole, classic rock, rhythm and blues and Tex-Mex music.

Disney Princess Concert

Singers from Broadway and animated films celebrate the Disney princesses in story, animation and song during the Disney Princess Concert at the Gallo Center. Performers sing and share behind-the-scenes stories from their time portraying princesses on the stage and screen.

“The Choir of Man”

Stage show “The Choir of Man” returns to the Gallo Center. The production — with a working bar on stage — features pop, classic rock, folk, Broadway and pub tunes. The cast of nine combines harmonies, singalongs, tap dance and more in homage to gathering at the local pub.

One Night of Queen

One Night of Queen salutes the music and showmanship of the classic rock band. Gary Mullen as Freddie Mercury and his band The Works have played three prior shows at the Gallo Center. The tribute features Queen hits including “We Will Rock You,” “We Are the Champions,” “Bohemian Rhapsody” and more.

Straight No Chaser

Male a cappella group Straight No Chaser brings its “Back in the High Life Tour 2022” to the Gallo Center. The group features nine voices coming together to make music — and with a sense of humor. There were limited seats remaining at press time.
